How many characters is a translation page?
The target text, i.e. the text already translated, and not the source text, i.e. the text to be translated, is used for the valuation of the text that the client submits for translation. The calculation page of a certified translation is 1125 characters with spaces and is precisely described in the Act on the Profession of Sworn Translator. As a reminder, a character is any letter, digit, punctuation mark (commas, full stops, semicolons, exclamation marks, question marks), space. The calculation page of a sworn translation is 1125 characters including spaces. If the number of characters in a translated document exceeds 1125 characters, the translation is calculated as an additional page; of course, we are lenient in this respect and if the text exceeds only a few characters, we do not charge the clients for another page.
In some cases, clients opt for a standard translation of a document, in which case there are 1800 characters with spaces per page, and, as in the case of a sworn translation, if the number of characters in the translated document exceeds 1800 characters, an additional page of the document is counted.
A sworn translation provides the client with the certainty that the originality of the translated document has been preserved, as the sworn translator is an expert appointed by a state authority and takes full responsibility for the translation.

When talking about a conversion page, it is important to remember that it is not a given sheet of paper that is being referred to, but the number of characters on it. Irrespective of the number of sheets of text to be translated (which often depends largely, for example, on the formatting of the text in question), we must look at the number of characters with spaces. It is not uncommon for the price of translating a text that is written in font size 30 to cost the same as translating a text in font size 8, even though they take up an extremely different number of printed pages.
